Veteran of the Month: Frank Bass
The Veteran of the Month is an award presented to a veteran chosen by members of the Johnson County Senior Center. The chosen veteran is recognized during the Veterans' Cafe (last Wednesday of each month) and awarded a plaque paid for by Johnson County Bank.
Frank is both a veteran and volunteer here at the senior center. He served the United States Navy for 20 years. Frank is also the center’s resident Grill Master. He is a father of three and grandfather of two. He was married to his wife, Cindy, for 37 years and supported her through her difficult fight with cancer.

Volunteer of the Month: Connie Hedinger
Each month, the center honors a special volunteer (or volunteering couple) nominated by members of the Johnson County Senior Center for their service.
Connie serves the center and community through Chicks with Sticks. She has been involved in making hundreds of items to help others, including lap blankets for hospice patients, hats and scarfs for local students, hats for cancer patients, and will soon be working on baby car seat blankets. Connie is truly a credit to the center.
If you are interested in serving our senior community by volunteering you can contact us at 423-727-8883. Nominate someone for next month’s Volunteer of the Month in the box to the right. |
